I only had one and put it in an old car, for trucks I always stuck with the FE's, one 390 was put in several trucks as the motors last longer than the body's up here.

so lets get this right
you changed out motor to a old car because the motor would last longer than the body ?
what happened to the first motor ?

why did you need to change the motor to begin with ?

Just LS swap it all.

Iron block, aluminum head 6.0.
One of the best v8 engines ever built.

And to completely ruin the internet, I'd take the Ford 460 over the Chevrolet 454 if building off an oem block.

Both company's were going for the same thing, better flowing heads.

The 390 can be a very strong power plant.

Yeppers. I built one years ago for a 51 F1 I had for many years. Much better heads than a 460 too.

Same as the 302. Newer is 50 and older is 28
