Coming off booze is dangerous. Godspeed.
Lots of talk about that around here these days. Our Gov’t runs liquor distribution and retail and the staff are currently on strike. Management is struggling to keep a few stores open limited hours as they know the medical system would crumble under the weight of all the people that would be forced to detox if the stores didn’t open at all.

Thank you. She is 35, and the boys are 9 and 12.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around the last couple of days.
I’m sorry to hear this, it can be very hard on the family but it won’t be forever. Once she gets over the hump life can still be incredible.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around the last couple of days.

I’m almost 68

I was at the cardiac doctor today with all the other geriatric patients

Only I was the one pushing my 42 year old son in a wheelchair

He’s been sober for almost 3 years now but close to 20 years of drug and alcohol abuse almost did him in more times than I can count and his body is flat worn out

NOW is the time to get her some help, then get some more help, then double up on the help

She and anyone else can beat it and the sooner the better

My heart and prayers go out to your entire family

Was it the hard living that got to him?

Learning a bit about getting clean myself. Just got home from visiting the wife in the ICU. Turns out she's had been hiding a significant alcohol habit for quite some time. Detox can be hard... Explaining everthing to my kids is proving to be harder.
I got clean and sober going on 19 years ago. I've seen a hell of a lot of people try and fail....and more than a few succeed. The hard part is.....well, everything. If someone you love is trying to stop drinking, or using drugs, then they can't be around other people who are. You and your friends will need to understand that. I was at least ten years clean before I felt ok enough to go eat a steak at a bar with my wife. Even now I don't associate with people who use drugs at all. If people start busting out the boose, I haul ass. My best friends are in recovery. She might not have to go to the extremes I did...but if she does, you gotta go there with her.

Has anyone worked with someone so stupid that if they NEVER picked up a chainsaw ever again it would be the safest thing for everybody?

I'm on 25 years sober. Some days are easier than others. One day at a time can be 5 minutes at a time. But they add up. I don't associate with my old friends. And where they really friends? Jesus saves! Even me.

Happy birthday. 60 is the metric conversion. May have to do some more maths to get the Kiwi equivalent. I get 5L per 100km in my car, is this a good thing or not?

Evening friends. Made it home safely.

Sorry to hear about the alcoholism and hard times it’s causing. I have several friends who have gotten sober and stayed that way. The one thing each one of them has said to me at separate times is, “You find out real quick who your drinking buddies are, and who your real friends are.”

Grandfather was a front line photographer in WWII. Went in to Italy in the battle of Anzio. He always said he didn't want us grandchildren going in the military, he had done enough and seen enough for all of us. Growing up I remember he always had to have his miller high life from morning to night. I remember my grandmother telling me that she prayed that he would stop drinking, so I never started. Seen it too many times on how hard it is on people and families. For him it was I would assume a way of coping with the things he had to do during his service. He did quit cold turkey and I can somewhat remember when he did. I think it was mainly for my grandmother that he did quit. Made it easier to help her with the problems she had with rheumatoid arthritis.
I don't really have the words on what to tell your kids, except that you both love them and you will try to work though this. Maybe use it as an example that you are human and fallible, and drinking is not the answer to look for.

Age is how ya feel redline4, not how ya are. Hope it was a good one.
O.K. then, made it to the Thursday. Early start again and really hoping this is not going to be the new way to get overtime. We have officially run out of room to store our equipment here and that is a serious problem. Good thing they thought about that before buying all these new transformers.🙄
Have a productive day all.

I appreciate the support, guys. Thank you
Praying for your wife and your family. Have not dealt with that, but have seen others that had to. The advice you have received is sound. Experience is the best teacher. I know there are support groups like AA, she can come back from this. You're in this together.
