I thought white oak, but don't recall the leaves on that tree and admit I'm not the best by i.d. by bark...
Isn't hickory and white oak bark similar or is it hickory and red oak?

I’d say oak
Don’t have the shagbark that I’m used to

No leaves on down tree.
Last pic is a leaf and trunk of adjacent tree.
Bark looks the same to me.

Looks like what we call black oak.

There's Ash around me. I have found a big difference east to west, like how east coast red oaks have cottonwood looking bark, nothing like what I see around here.

Might be because we are on the Plateau.

Pig nut and regular hickory are probably the same thing. People refer to smallish hickory as pig nut here.
