Yella poplar was my guess too when I saw that stick. We have a huge one along the shore at the lake along with some smaller ones and some whites. They sure like water.

There's a couple others but this majestic bastard has a place out here on the island for as long as Foster's buddies don't kill it. The two old dead corkscrew willows are on Dad's watch. I cut them as they fall.

The weepers yes, but the short growing ones with brittle little limbs have lived their life out on the point. They started dying when the lake got high in '05ish before the drain commish started cleaning out high bank creek. Some willows can actually get too much water.
