When you were 8? What you doing, greasing little red wagon axles?
Nope but I serviced Oshkosh and Mack cement mixers when I was 17 or maybe 18 for a few months that winter. Dirty Jobs demo.

Riding pissed off horses at the local auction for $5 bucks a ring run, trying to steal beer and tearing apart single cylinder motors to fix up when not sell parts plus scraping. I had a dirt bike, a pony and decent 20" BMX bike with plastic mags.. Also had money in my pockets. Yeah that's about right at 8 to 9. Cut grass and fixed push mowers.

What were you doing?

The Chinese restaurants in the eighties and nineties preferred venison, just sayin. Skinned, cleaned out, you keep the neck roast and no hooves lol, just sayin.

You said you sold your horse at 8, but did mechanical work to contra the farrier....

Me at 8? Mowed lawns, rode my spoked BMX (no HMX for me) and played soccer I'd say. I was 8 after all.

I was greedy and liked money at 6 so working, scraping copper and selling parts from my blown 3.5 B&S mini bike motors dad bought got me started early. I blew plenty of 3.5 and 5 hp motors. Liked to shave heads and bump timing.

Afternoon boys.
Miss 12 is doing her science project on eels. You get eels ay? Anyway, we have a connection to this place on their mums side. FIL worked there for 27 years, now BIL is there.

BIL took us all for his version of a guided tour. Laugh a minute with his colourful description of expectations vs reality re the eels and their path around or through the turbines. Eel puree anyone?

Wairua Falls.

Man made canal that feeds the turbines. Also, my Mrs and her brothers swimming pool when they were young.

Power Station. Heritage building. Early 1900s is old here.

Whole thing is 5mw? @USMC615 probably uses that much reheating dinner...

Was an awesome experience. Got kids thinking about the eels (how they get down to sea to spawn, and how they climb back up when the next generation return?), and the hydro that is such a big part of their mums family history.

Bored yet?
Great pics there Adam thanks for sharing buddy.Hope you had a great Sunday
