Soft clipping opamps are close but modern digital is closer For that mater. You can program class c digital pulsing amps to lose gain as they approach saturation therefore compressing not clipping sine waves. Old school non tubes just used negative feedback opamps to attempt the same function but in reality a transistor still has a linear gain as it approaches saturation and therefore will always clip at some pointOk, not that vintage....hold on.
