Steve I'd make the kerf double or triple width and varnish it. Even dry wood has acids and other compounds I wouldn't want metal to be in extended contact with.

Thanks for the heads up. I had considered the varnish but not the kerf width.

I’m good. Picking up a 500 round range box of Winchester 62gr green tip after work from a fella out here in C-17’s for $150. Come to find out, he’s got about 25-30 each of 500 and 1000 rd cases he’s had for years.

I've got a Zastava AK-47, don't have a PSA-made AK..from what I understand the PSA's are well built, pretty solid AK's.
