Of course there's always Leupold to fall back on when a scope is needed too.
There's basically only three places in the world that make fine optics, America, Germany and Japan as far as rifle scopes are concerned. If it's from anywhere else... fuggetaboutit.

I compared a vx3 to the zeiss and it was similar, even though the Leupold was 2.5x the price. Salesman brought 3 scopes out into the parking lot after dark and we each had several looks. Believe the 3rd was an upper end Nikon. Ended up going with the Zeiss

Well I got the ball rolling on a new ride today. It was time to flip the Accord or commit to driving it til the wheels fell off. Which for as much as I drive wouldn't be long. Dealer has to get the trim I want from another dealer so it should be here next week. Nothing fancy, just switching from OH manufacture to KY.

I'll probably start shopping for a work truck next year. Something to haul the can am up north and firewood.

For years now, I’d upgrade a couple rifle scopes here and there and mount the old ones on smaller rifles like the 10-22, 22-250, or maybe they were a bit better on one of the boys’ rifles. Zeiss and Sworovski were always out of my price range, but when Zeiss came out with the Conquest series for $470 I had to try it. Unbelievable clarity and brightness during low-light situations. It blew away similarly priced optics. But last I looked they had doubled in price.

My oldest boy just bought a pair of Vortex 10x42 binocs and they seem to be of very fine quality as well. I’ll probably try a Vortex scope next time I have a rifle in need of one
