SOLD Nice Ported 084

Selling my nice ported 084. This saw has a lot of history as it started as @trooney saw and he got screwed on an eBay deal. Thread here:

I bought the saw from him and Stratton redid it based on a few parts being sent to him. I believe Dave sent the piston. I have had it apart and everything looked good to me...I spun the base on my lathe to check it and I didn’t see anything that warranted me doing any work to it. I have out at least 5 gallons of fuel through it. Probably 10. Always fires up and pulls a long bar very well.

I put a new handle on it 2 years back and also upgraded the cosmetics. There are a few cracks on the top cover as shown. It stays on fine...just wanted to be up front on that. I was running a max flow but have the covers as shown as well. I recently put a new buffer by the carb...it’s the 088 style. Dogs are custom 10 gauge stainless that Dave sells. They are both sharp and stout.

lots of guys on where have ran the saw. Woodpecker bore cut a maple with the 50” setup on it if I remember correctly. Below is a recent vid while at Kevs. I can also do vids if needed. I do potentially have 50 and 36 inch cannon bars that could go with this.

I’ve been big saw shopping for awhile. When I need a long bar I’ll drag the Mac 125 out but would like to get something a bit newer and with better parts availability. An 084 would be better. Not sure how much though lol.

You can find new 3120's for about $1250-1400 shipped and they still make them.

Shoulda bought one during the big sale. Had my eye on the battery powered top handle but they’ve yet to come in or they forgot about me!

At one point 2 new pre owned 3120's were up for sale here for around $1200-1250 each. I almost got them.

Run a stock 3120 against this 084 and see who has lunch money left over when you’re done

That’s me cutting in the video. That is about a 200 year old sugar maple that throws dust, chips, and noodles all in the same cut. I’ve never cut anything harder

You could set it beside your Cho66 Nitrous saw and they could look cool together.

Plenty of old monster trees to cut in WV.

You mean my Cho66 "turbo" saw ?

Does the guy that did the porting still post here? I was wondering if its like a full out hot port or if it's like the calm working mans ones that mastermind does

On the topic of the guy who ported it. He is not on here or the other forums anymore. The short version is he screwed some guys over and did somethings not acceptable. This is what prompted me to look the saw over and also put lots of time on it. Nothing I have seen on this saw is evident of what he turned into later on.

The video I think shows it’s tune...that was a 60” .404 full comp setup. Skip would have went through faster...it left a massive pile of chips. It’s definitely a work saw...though it’s not slow in a cant either.
