They feature larger fuel tanks, updated triggers and rubber handles along with updated filters, one touch stopping and simplified starting my stihl ambassador told me there is less vibrations with these models. The plastic designs are a little different and the model numbers have been changed you can get them in loop or bike handle form.

Stihl was over due for an upgrade in it's commercial trimmers and were getting their azz kicked by other companies .
Looks like they have made some good changes and have gone back to the traditional 2 cycle engine .

I assume they're true 2-strokes and not the 4-mix heads?

These new models are also diagnosticable now. They collect operating data (like hours, number of starts), which can be accsessed at the workshop per pc and diagnostic tool. It could be easier for Stihl this way to say this is not covered under warranty when the hours are to high (for example adjusting the valves or other things) when there is a damage.

I don't like the throttle response of the 4 mix and I've heard pros complain of it as well plus there seems to be running issues but maybe Stihl has made some improvements.
I had heard that Stihl was moving away from the 4 mix engine but looks like that wasn't true .

well you can always use the fs 56,70,94 they are conventional 2 stroke.

I've always liked the 4-mixes I've has, though admittedly I haven't had a trimmer in one. My br600 is fairly quiet and idles very quiet compared to a two stroke. The same with my extended hedge trimmer. I'm beginning to prefer my ht131 over my ht250, even for the shorter branches, as the less powerful 4-mix has way more off idle torque. I can lay the bar on a branch and pull the trigger. The two stroke must be revved before making the cut. While I may prefer a two stroke for a trimmer, I sure like them for everything else and wished the ms880 replacement were a 4-mix. Anybody who runs a 60 + inch bar might understand the torque preference.

I do like my KM-130. Great with saw attachment.

I would like to see Stihl make a small saw based on the FS-130. Either top handle or regular. Top handle would be killer for torque vs displacement.
