As much as you feel your saw plan provides. They had the closeouts before the 661s here with a 20" bar/chain for $875. Great saw, bullet proof was my experience. I'd go $150 under 661 numbers, or more. 661 is quite a saw.

List price of a new Stihl MS660 from the dealer is $1,190 with sales tax. That may or may not include the typical recommended (usually 25") bar and chain.

jmssaws; I envy you.... We have none, all sold out.... only 661's now. We've had a very poor history with 661's so far.

The 661 isn't going over very well here either.

jmssaws: what issues are the 661's having in your area? Ours is electronic issues with the coil, solenoids, poor running. We've had 4 661's total so far.

First 661 was crushed, became parts saw, second ran for only 6 months then had all sorts of electrical issuses. It was traded for a 3rd new 661. Another guy in the same logging outfit bought a 661 for himself. The 4th one is the longest 661 we've had and the most troublesome of them all (Almost $1,000 in repairs).

The 3rd 661 is the only one still running with little issues.

The guy with the 4th 661 bought a new ported 2188 Red Hen to insult the stihl dealer that he's been with for over 20 years.

All of our 660's have been nearly problem free other than normal wear and tear items.

Electric and lean seized, most are still running 660's although several 395's have been purchased in the last year.
Everyone i know that has a 661 has had trouble, loggers though and the saws run hard everyday.

jmssaws; lean seized? That's a terible thing to happen to a saw, a heart attack...

Some of us are staying with 660's, another bought a 2188 Red Hen, another bought a 6100 Dolmar.

Redbull661: that could all be true.

This one 661 has been in and out of the dealer many times, they've reset the saw many times with their diagnostic tool.

This was a mastermind 661. But it's having issues even when it was returned to complete stock, muffler included.

The one 661 that's not having running issues only has hot start issues.
