I found this K&N filter in Madisons catalog, said it fit under the cover of a 288 or 394 so I gave it a shot. Kinda disappointed at how much smaller it is than the stock filter, but I would like to hear yalls opinion on this filter. I would guess it'll flow much better. Now I need a thin prefilter for it I feel like. Feel free to comment. First pic is of the stock filter and second is the k&n

No because I only use it on the road and there isn't as much dust as there would be on a chainsaw cutting wood. But if I had one on a saw there would be a prefilter and filter oil along with seal grease.

Have you ran it yet? Check tune with each filter and see if one makes more rpm than the other.
No I have not. Just got it yesterday and didn't get home till around 9:30pm. Ate dinner, putthe filter on, posted the thread, and went to bed lol but I sure will.

Probably not. They usually flow better than a normal felt filter. If you have to richen it up you'll know you're getting more flow through. I've run both but it's been several years since I ran a K&N on one.
