Just 5 or 6 years. I just change chains when cutting and sharpen after dark. I use a Harbour Freight digital caliper when changing from left side to right to get same cutter size. When chains get worn down or rocked, I set them aside for stump or crappy cutting. I use an old plastic chainsaw case for chains, tools, wedges. I keep chains in ziplocks and label with painters tape an sharpie. Once used I mark dull my on label. I also spray a bit of WD on chains while in bag.20161122_181542.jpg20161122_181607.jpg20161122_181659.jpg

Nice set up there, now that I am acquiring more chains I need to start getting more organized.... I constantly have a chain/bar and the seat of my truck lol....

I do need to get me a cheap/decent caliper.... is the harbor freight one decent.... a few guys told me to use a little adjustable wrench if you dont have calipers...

Don't buy a plastic ('polymer') caliper - they flex so much that the reading can be whatever you want it to be. Cheap, digital, metal caliper might be OK.

I just hold cutters back-to-back and eyeball them.

learn the feel of your caliper get a ground dowell pin test it over and over till you get correct result over and over. I can do it with 36 inch electronic calipers. you can to with practice. if not throw them in scrap pile and try another caliper

Diamond wheel was not much help. They said I can send it back and they will refund my money. Not the resolution I wanted. I don't have a problem sending the wheel back, but would like to know the problem, is it my grinder or a bad wheel. I really feel that the wheel has a thick spot with the plating. Not sure what to do?

I know its would be a pain in the ass, but honestly you probably will just have to send it back..... since there is no real way to true the wheel....

I mean if every wheel you put in the grinder does that, then that's were the issue may lie... hate to hear this problem....

I still have the wheel and I am going to keep it, I wish Diamond wheel offered to send a new wheel ,if I sent this one back but they did not(the offered a refund ,but did not want to help). I ground a few really messed up chains and dressed the wheel a handful of times. It seams to be getting better. I still think the plaiting is thick in one spot causing the vibration. If I lower the wheel to just kiss the tooth, it hits only in one spot every rotation. I will try and keep you posted the more I use it.

This^^^

If you keep running it like it is without determining if it is the wheel or the wheel mount you will eventually take the bearings out of the motor.
