That makes sense.

What doesn't make sense is the weight increase for XPG version is .3kg for 550xp, .2kg for 560xp, and .1kg for 357xp.
I read one of those 357 had e-tech muffler, wouldnt surprise me if that one add 0.1kg so the difference between 357XP / XPG may still be 0.2kg.
If they had used a digital weight and put up all the numbers I think we would had seen 0.2 kg between XP and XPG on them all.

The generator's diameter is the same from 346 to 357, and also same dimensions as they use on 550 and 560, I'm about 99% sure its the exact same generator, only difference in the cable lenght and male/female connector points.

550 & 560 has carburettor heat elements, two of them, they are very light, I've never weighted them but we're not speaking about many gram's.

There is one thing I myself wondered about, 357XPG vs 560XPG

I have one 562XPG and got rid of a 562XP & 550XPG. I sure hope they cure the air filter fitment problem. Mine haven't been super bad on hot starts but the 346'x and 357's start first pull every single time after the initial cold start.

The reason I got rid of the two:

In my book the 3xx series will never be surpassed and is why I am scooping up the old ones. Besides I have a Southern boy putting a 346 together as we speak.:b1:

New saws look to be much improved in the air filter area, here're a couple shots from a Norwegian operator's instagram. She doesn't specify how long it was used in the second photo, but I think it proves the point. This is a very similar system to the 572/565 with soft rubber base and screw-down attachment. Looks great, but I wish the "new generation" were lighter, I played with a 462 last week and it felt more like a 562 than a 572. The MS400 looks like it'll just be a 67cc MS362, seems a bit close to the 462, but I certainly wouldn't complain if Husqvarna made a 562 with 67cc...

Its got a nice metal filter base sealing surface and a metal fastener to adjust clamping force....that'll work.

I did hear from a dealer that the new 550 Mark II filter neck and filter are supposed to fit on the original 550.

So far I haven't had a problem with the 550 filter by greasing the filter to neck connection and keeping a sharp chain.

562 and also 560, if I remember correct they've updated the filter holder and introduced a new filter with 24 my masks (orange filter).

I grease the filter neck connection on most of my Huskies, that is 2xx, 3xx and the 5xx serie.

As you can see in the pics, I tried the grease thing and succeeded in making a mess and did not work. Also fabbed an O ring and that did not work either. My chains are ground on a Silvey 510 which is supposed to be a decent grinder.

The best solution I’ve found is the foam pre filter that goes around the existing air filter. I tried the grease trick and it didn’t work for me. That foam sock does work.

Outerwears makes a pre filter I believe.

That Silvey is junk, send it to me to dispose of for you. The Foley Belsaw should be fine for you.

I put a piece of foam under the filter where it presses against the filter neck.
