Perhaps this has been mentioned already, but it seems the mark II changes also removed the decompression valve. Not a bad move for durability, I end up plugging them on small saws sooner or later.

He pulled the starter out and it dropped like a broken yoyo. I'm not sure what that shows, but traditionally that would indicate it fails a compression test.

....or maybe the new chainsaw just needs less cranking speed and therefore H increased starter pulley diameter to decrease starting efforts. This also permits getting rid of decompressor valve
..

This new 5 really encapsulates the evolution of the modern gas chainsaw. So many details you can/can't see that make this saw what it is. Its such a shallow assessment to say its 'XXoz's' heavier than the previous model.
