Dustin: Half the product codes aren't working yet. Tried to order some G's but only got an error message. Same with the .058 numbers. I ordered some 18" .050's just to get something moving. I'll put 'em on the next order!
Tor and Chuck: The 545G isn't going to be a big winner over here cause it's not even on the price list. In fact I didn't even try any of the 545 numbers cause I don't expect to sell them.
Here in the US it seems they have settled on a $50 price difference between the XP and non XP versions of all of these saws. 545/550, 555/562, 565/572. When they are that close, everyone takes the small step up to the XP model. Even when there was a $100 difference, the majority of the sales went to the XP, but the 555 at least sold a little bit at that spread.
I don't think it's a matter of us getting banged with high pricing on the non-XP models. It's more a matter of them giving us aggressive pricing on the XP models to be competitive in the market, which works for me. The other thing is that XP as a marketing term probably works a little too good. Lot's of customers will not buy a saw unless it's an XP.
Combine all that and decent saws like the 545, 555, 365, and such pretty much get ignored. They will occasionally have some kind of promo on those models. It's usually along the lines of free stuff along with the saws, or buy 12 and get a free one. But unless you address the small gap in retail prices they still won't sell.
