Once u buy this 395, and then get it ported. You won’t show your friends that 372 any more. Don’t even need to get it ported. Put a 36” on it and buck some real stuff
While they don’t need to be ported, gutting the muffler really adds a bit of pep to their step.

seriously, whats the difference between the 390 and the 395. I have heard conflicting stories and now that I am sober for the next 5 or 10 minutes need to know the difference. Biscuit the Wonder dog is growling at me as we walked earlier as soon as I got home but did not stop anywhere... Normally a walk equals a stop at family mart which equals beer for me and chicken nuggets for him. He is indicating we must resume the march until we hit the promised land.

A 390 is "like" an overgrown 372, a 395 is... well it's a 395, bigger, badder, stronger and six inches longer. Lol
This is why a 390 gets called a felling saw and a 395 a landing or bucking saw.

so is it heavier built? higher HP or just all around larger than a 390? (handling etc.)

edit, I am not a *s-wordtalker. I have no need for this but am curious and always wanted a larger saw. Why? Who The F knows.... just interested about the differences I get a lot of logs i have to noodle due to their grain pattern. when you a re noodling a 36" hardwood log and you buck at 24" to match your stove... thats a lot of noodling...

I currently run a 28" on the 372 and its reasonable... thinking that it might be more like lightsaber level with the same 28" on a 390/395.

no worries, just not sure which I (Want / need) i want a 390 or a 395 don't really need either but its so tempting. a ported 372 pulls a 28 in hardwood really well... half of my stupid ass wants to see what a 90cc saw will do.

You could go to Husqvarna's website and compare specs of all three saws to get some ideas flowing. It's not as good as trying one out in your hot little hands, but it's a start.

A 395 will feel like it’s trying to pull you through the cut. When the saw is dug in hard and you are WOT there is a chance you and the saw will be sucked through the 3/8 gap. This saw is almost 25cc more than a 372. It’s like getting off a CR 250 2 stroke and getting on a CR 500. I have a 372 and 2 395’s. 372 has a 24” bar n it. The 2 395’s 1 has a 24 and 1 has a 32. I use the 372 for 12 and under because it’s lighter and easier to maneuver. The 395’s get used for everything else. The 395 will SMOKE the 372 no questions asked. A ported 372 will not keep up with a 395

Of all the saws I own the only 2 I will never sell are my Mac797 and my ported 395 Husqvarna. If I hadn't just bought a Ruger Blackhawk Bisley 45LC I would grab this 395 in a split second just to have a back up cause as I understand it they are not going to be selling the 395 in the states any longer.

@roger collins i too would like to know this. If anyone has ever done an actual break down of the piston and components and compared them. I did notice there are a lot of “Made in Sweden” components still on this one.

They are all the same parts and quality whether it’s from Sweden or Brazil. I believe they are Swedish parts assembled in Brazil, but I could be wrong about that. They’ve been made there for quite a while

Makes sense, the Brazilian guts I've seen look just like the Swedish ones. I have a blown crank out of a 2020 Brazil model in the scrap bin, if I remember I'll look at it tomorrow and see if it's made in Sweden.

@ken morgan, The 395 is the baddest of the 90cc class. It has more pull than a 661, 9010 or a 390. But it’s a tank. It’s big and blocky and heavy. It has an outboard clutch (which adds durability IMO) and interior tensioner (that’s it’s worst feature). The 390 is a very nice saw. Built lighter with an inboard clutch and exterior tensioner for removing the powerhead quickly, it’s a newer design with a fair bit of grunt. It’s also pretty heavy. Unless you’re logging big trees far from the landing, the 390 isn’t really necessary. Your ported 372 can handle most any felling projects on the hill with less weight.

The 395 is for the power hungry. I just bought a new one from Bruce and it’s awesome right out of the box. It’s wearing 36” full comp for the short term but will graduate to 42” skip next week. The old 395 is getting a full tear-down and rebuild after 10 years of running that 42”. These saws nearly replace the 120cc class and are on their own level. A ported one is a force to be reckoned with. You will only regret buying one if you don’t use it. Resale value is also very good. If this one is spoken for PM Gentleman. You won’t be disappointed.

I have ported a 395, a portrd 390, and two portrd 372's. I use the 372's with 28" bars the most, by far, but they pull and oil a 36" respectfully.

I'm not that fond of the ported 390. Basically it's a lot heavier, less nimble, 372 with more grunt, however it does not cut faster for me at all.

The 395 even stock pulls like an old 6 cube 100cc saw with all the speed of a 372. After getting it ported, it pulls a long 50" + bar so well I sold my ported 880 & 088. If it will oil it, it has the grunt to pull a 72" bar, no doubt. The ported 395 will cut with a ported 120cc saw all while weighing 5 lbs less. It's as strong, dare I say, as a Mac 125, but with a ton more speed. Make of this what you will. But a 395 is in a class of its own period.
