I need to down size to 3 saws. I like everything in my collection, so I'm having a hard time choosing and wondering if anyone has pros and cons of various saws I might not have thought of. I use these for cutting the occasional dead oak tree and bucking. I will be using whatever I keep next year for thinning out plantation pine trees and limbing/bucking.

I have Stihl MS260 pro, MS241C, 034av, 036, Husqvarna 435 top handle, 365 special.

I think I want to keep the 365 and top handle. The 260 is a nice power to weight, but so is the 241 and it starts super easy no matter what. The 034 is nice from a vintage stand point, and the 036 seems to be a tank. They all work great and have no issues. Thoughts?

I'd prefer to keep the top handle saw, the 365, and 241C. Not that the others are bad, would be a shame to loose them.

You'll get many opinions here, but what you need to ask yourself, is which machines do you find yourself using the most?

I definitely use the 435 for limbing the most. It's a great power to weight for that sort of work. I use the 241 for limbing quite a bit too. The second most used is probably the 260 and 365, depends how big the log is and what mood I'm in. Other than that the 034 and 036 don't really get used. They're kind of heavy and not up to the same power of the 365.

It sounds like you have an idea of what to part with already. I think I'd go with @huskihl 's suggestion of parting with the 260 and 034, and get rid of the 036 as well.

A 435, 241, and a 365 isn't a bad three saw plan.

I'd probably keep the 435, 241, and 365. Or you could sell the 241 also...and pickup a 346xp or 545/550xp if you wanna keep it all one flavor. I'm thinking I need to do some major downsizing myself. But I have about 20 saws and really only need 3 or 4. Decisions decisions...

I would dump the 241, 034, and 036.

Definitely a lot of opinions! Are people choosing solely based on weight/power preference or also fixability? The 034/036 are super simple to work on and have a ton of aftermarket parts. The 365 seems to have a good amount too being similar to the 372. The 241 seems to be a unicorn and parts are near impossible to find. I guess if nothing ever goes wrong on them none of it matters, but if it does I'd like to have parts too.

I recommended that because the 241 is probably similar in power but lighter than the 260. 034 and 036 are the same thing, so no sense keeping the under powered one. And I would keep a 365 before I kept an 036, just for power and parts availability with similar weight

I would rank them in the order I like and use them, then I would keep them all and start looking for a new saw. That is why I have 10 and am looking for another one. LoL! You definitely have some good saws to choose between.

I'd end up keeping them all, maybe upgrade by buying a few nice new low hour cherries. This is a better question for your accountant rather than us lot. We didn't end up here because we were good at ridding ourselves of saws...

This is how I ended up in this situation. I don't _need_ to sell any, but I also can't/don't use 6 saws. I'm not a professional, just have a chunk of trees/land to manage.

I would rather have a 260 than a 241, plus he already has a lighter saw in the top handle.

That’s solid too. I’ve never done a direct comparison between the 2 but figured they were close in power
