Working on a 036 for a friend that paid to much for a dead saw, scored piston. Cleaned the cylinder up, new OEM piston and rings, base gasket, and crank seals. Would not hold vacuum before tear down. Hols pressure and vacuum, will start and idle well, however when you hit the throttle it dies. I went through the carburetor installed a complete kit, new fuel line and filter all OEM. Saw did the same thing before and after the carburetor kit.

If all others ( leaks, compressions , coils , tank vents , etc, etc) are ok put the carburator in accetone , i say accetone , not theese *B-S.... carb cleaners , for about 10 minutes and put it again to the saw
tuning the carb to the factory recomandations and see if work
if not , you go for a new carb
theese mebrans kits have nothing to do if the difuser , or other parts have problem

good luck

Did you vac test through the impulse hose? A blocked/broken impulse hose or passage will give that symtom.

How's your coil? Do you have another coil you could try? New spark plug?
As the operator say the saw start idling and full throtle is good, usually a bad coil give you bad results at full throtle , the saw can not produce the highest rpms,
to explain this more simple is like to have a machine that need 100 volts and you give it 70 volts the machine work but can not give you the max
also the coil must test if give the properly volts when the spark plug is conect to the saw maybe the operator dont have this testing tools for this job

The operator must tell as if this problem come when the saw is cold or if this problem come after a long time of full throtle

He said the saw starts and idles fine but won't rev up. It just dies when he hits the throttle

Do you know for what reason is this impulse hose there ? do you know that the most common reason of the saw cant start- idling is this impulse ?

now go back to the op first post and read that he tell ....... The saw start and iddling good , so if the saw can start and iddling good this means that the impulse, seals, gaskets , fuel lines are not blocket , cut , or break

except if the operator is so unlucky and the impulse break just the time that he hit the throtle .

so the best that we have to do is to wait new infos from the operator and then we can tell our opinions

be good
