Finally bought a couple files and said im going to learn how to do this. I watched some video's and have been talking to John Rielly about it. I dont have hours to just sit down and convert a chain at one time. When i have some time i go and file a cutter or three. After a few days i can see some improvement. Here is the last cutter i did this morning. I started with a very dull Oregon LGX that i dont believe has ever been sharpened. I have a Safe edge chisel bit file and the weird triangle.

Thats good work. I cant use that weird hexagonal file for poo, it just didnt feel right in my hand. I did a whole lot better with the double bevel.

This is kinda funny. I started this thread after I finally decided I was going to learn to square file a chain. So I did it and was glad I did. Then I got a deal on a grinder I couldn't pass up. So that may be the first and last chain I file! Haven't done any stoning yet though!

It much nicer to file them after they've been converted ;).
