Not all saws need or will benefit from a muff mod. For some, they're so restricted I don't know how they even run. When I mod mufflers on the 1127 series Stihls, I literally spend more time cleaning than milling/grinding. I don't get them wet though. just shaking, compressed air, small tools for scraping, more shaking and air. I listen to make sure they're completely quiet when shaken. (no tinkle sounds). I also do a close visual inspection. I don't want one of my eBay customers claiming their engine was ruined by a muffler I supplied.
