My cousin is interested in buying my ms460, so I was running through the operation with him yesterday, checking the tuning, etc. All was going well until he pointed out that the saw was dripping dark oil on my boots. Embarrassing. Removed the clutch cover today, and it didn't look good. Removed the clutch and things got ugly. Here's what I found:

With the rate that the saw was loading up my boots, I figure it has to be either the pump outlet to the chain or the bearing bushing at the end of the pump piston. Oil buildup at the lower left of the pump suggests the bearing bushing or something close-by. Anyone else seen this? Thanks.

This, or it could also be the pickup line. Which I had 2 brand new oem ones split and ordered a pack of 10 Taiwanese ones.

Clean it out completely, reassemble and run it so you can clearly see where it’s coming from. It’s just a guessing game with all that crud built up in there imo.
Thanks to everyone for the replies. I guess a good cleaning and reassembly is in order. I'll try not to oil my boots this time ... ;)
Will post again when I find out what's going on.

That baked on crud is tough to clean off fully. I’d try some mineral spirits and a brush. I bet the outlet seal is bad or missing as well.
