Ms250 bar mount

I can't seem to word this right in the thread search. Or maybe it's not be discussed before. But I'm even coming up empty on google.

Does anyone know of a way to change the bar mount studs to the large mount? My 250 has a 18ich .325 wood boss bar on it currently. I have a 16inch 3/8 LP that I think would be a great match for the 250. It's a large mount bar so oil supply is an issue. I'd appreciate any information

The bar you have, is the slot too big for your saw? If it is, there are spacers you can get to allow the bar to fit, but you may have to modify the bar to create a new oil hole.

The bar I have is a light bar though. I've got Husqvarna to stihl large mount adapters and I've got 1 stihl small to large mount adapter. The oiler channel doesn't match with the bar. Nor does the chain tensioner. I'll snag a picture when I get home

Agreed. He may be trying to re-invent the wheel. The .325" pitch is a good match for an MS 250. I'm not sure that it's worth the effort to change it out.

Picco chain is smooth as butter to limb with and fast on ms 250s, it's well worth it to change it out.

I think making a 250 accept a 3003 mount bar is pointless if it's even possible, picco on the 3005 mount is the sh!t on 250s. Either a spur or a rim, both are good.

I like updating them to a rim drive so if you wanna swap from a P7 rim to a .325 rim it's easy.

Rim sprocket clutch drum was the first thing I changed on the saw. I didn't even pull the cord 1 time before doing that. I already had a 3003 mount bar. But your right about trying to make it work. They don't make any 3005 light bars do they?

They do, in 12, 14, and 16" bars.

It's a tighter fit with the P7 rim, for example, on a 16" bar you can get a 55 driver chain on but it's kind of a *b-word until you get used to it, 56 drivers fits perfect.

If I ran .325 on a 250 again it would be with that narrow kerf 50 gauge RSP chain, that sh!t cuts fast. But a picco bar/chain will make the saw feel smaller, especially with a light bar, it'll feel like a toy.

Kind of my goal here lol something really light because I've got 2 660s 1 clone 1 OEM,a 046,2-361s 1 is a clone,a 271,a270-converted to a 280. 2 clones 372s,1 365 special on a xtorq crank case,the 365s original case has a new 372 OE jug on it now. A hand full of random generic Chinese saws mostly just given to me. A non currently working homelite xl 12. And 2 250s 1 of them was a kit saw. Which the "crank case" on the one I made this post about is from the kit. Every thing else was swapped over. The old case looked like someone threw it in a oven when they were drunk and then they tried cutting wood with a slice of pizza.. ohh and I have a corded pole saw that is dangling from one of my apple trees. It's Been there for over 11 years. Pretty sure its would kick any saw I just mentioneds ass.

I agree, I prefer rim sprockets, I have them on my 271 and anything else that did not have one yet.

No real option to get the 3003 bars on the 250's unfortunately.

I agree with what others have said here, 3/8LP is great on the 230/250's. I have used the 043 setup (61PS Pro) on there with out issues with stretch or breakage.

I originally bought the bar for a 270. Which was a very used saw when I got it so it was a little down on power. Then I was given a fresh 280 oem p&c which I widen the exhaust and lowered the intake a little bit. That made it seem like a tad too much power for the lenght and pitch
