85cc. I definitely consider it impressive that the 7900 had a 22 year production period. Didn’t they come out around late 2000?

My 6400 is 2001., and my 7900 2003.
I am not certain whether there were any made in 2000.

Some would consider 6.4cc more to be a big advantage.

Just saying, not arguing nor dismissing the potential superiority of a 064.

I guess there where many great saw models over the decades, but all things considered the 7900/7910 is a 2 decades old design still in production with only minor design changes.
Well, not for much longer!

Does the current makita branded red 7900 the same color as the original dolmar ones? I might just bought one and replace all the stickers.. Not much into the smurf ones..

Don't know about the current orange-red applied to Dolkitas, but Dolmar has used so many shades of red over the years I don't think anyone would call you out on it. In the 80's they spanned from (to my eyes) true orange to crimson Homelite/Jonsered red.

I'm already disappointed in the 2040 saws. I can tell already.

The ms 468 is already a huge disappointment for me, I probably won't even eat dinner tonight.

I have a red Makita EA5000, I'll try remember and compare it's color to my Dolmar saws tomorrow.

Because its NOT offered in FI or M-tronic, and its a strato

It might be a workhorse, but I'm disappointed.
If my 250cc 4 stroke can get rid of a conventional carb, and Stihl can get rid of maunal adjustable carbs on just about every other pro saw, its a shame that we have what we have on the 881.

Mtronic and FI have been brought into play, without stratos, successfully, in their current line-ups.

Maybe Stihl tried, but to me, its still dissapointing.

A 120cc saw that followed the 500i and the 661 cylinder designs with FI or Mtronic would have had me get one

I'll take your word for it, If it cuts stumps with a 41" bar that works for me. If it was fuel injected stihl would probably want 2500 bucks for it..
