torque for days. Gonna try 8 pin and more off the rakers for smaller stuff.

I had 2 of the 6100s but gave my used one to my son for Christmas 2018. I still have the other one new in the box.

They are a true sleeper saw and one of the best in the 60cc class.

I have never run one stock.
I will say it’s a bit heavy. I remember my 2159 feeling lighter, specs say 1lb. With steel 20”, only a pound or two lighter than 2166 with 28” LW...but the power is comparable too. I gotta get em in the same log back to back.

8 tooth sprocket is a play setup at best IMO, sacrifices too much torque even on a 7900.

Of course, nothing against trying it and getting Your own opinion.

My MMWS6100 is a screamer, jumped a chain once, I don't want more chain speed on that saw for regular bucking of hardwoods.
Same goes for my XS5000!

Yes that's saw is only just pulling that chain now 8-pin and lower rackers will make it a pig and very grabby .

I was kind of thinking that after I finished typing my response if you want to do that for smaller stuff go the 8 pin but I wouldn't go dropping the rakers too much

I dunno, I think she’s doing good. Feels plenty torquey, not soft. I know what my 2050 feels like when I bury too much bar.

I may get a chance this weekend to grab another log off the mountain and try some saws back to back.

Redneck gopro, phone in the shirt pocket.
She melts through green salt cedar from high up that’s clean as opposed to the dry hard euc.

Both with 24” LW bars and tanks half full.View attachment 279880 View attachment 279881
And that’s why I have a hard time finding love for 60cc saws stock or modified. I end up talking myself into getting one 562, 6100 ect.... then end up selling it. I guess it depends on your use. Maybe for what I use a saw for there just too “in between” a 50 and 70cc. For a dedicated firewood saw a 60cc is a good size though. I have to say the new ms400 that will make its way to the USA eventually is a intriguing saw. I would think it would be nice for me for jobs with 15-25” timber, especially if it’s brushy stuff I have to limb a lot. Almost 70cc (67cc) in a 55-60cc package sounds nice. The question is how rapey is the price gonna be....

@huskyboy that’s what I’m smoking. Ported, maybe big bore 70cc. Same weight, mo powa. In that weight class, the 6100 is topped out. The 2166 has significantly more potential. I want to drag a 28” bar for felling, maybe even a little more occasionally, and not use the 395 chest high horizontal on unlevel footing. Once it’s on the ground, drop the 395 on it and let it eat.

someday I’ll get nerdy and sit down and compile a list of saws based on weight/chassis classes...

Stihl will most likely just price it 1500€uro here in Croatia, keeps things simple for customers - all new upper cc class pro saws cost the same, just pick Your poison.

Finally a chain and video to do this saw justice...I think? That was a fun evening.

She munched right through dry hard eucalyptus the same size as well.
