So I picked this up from Bryanr2. Seems like a nice saw. Only had time to run one tank through it cutting up some ash. I’ve never seen a stock one so have nothing to compare too, however I think I was expecting a bit more jam. It is lighter than my 2171’s and 500i’s so I’m IMG_0045.jpeg sure it will be much easier on the body carrying it around for the day than the aforementioned.

What is your definition of a bit more jam? Details are always helpful.

Randy builds a solid saw, Focused more on reliability than all out speed. Most of the builders would rather have a saw last than be slightly more powerful.

If you wanted a balls to the wall saw, he could do that too.

Some of us believe that the MT has a factory default that keeps the saw tuned richer for a period of time.

Many seem to “come alive” suddenly vs standard saws slow improvement with continued break in.

Not sure if anyone has been able to verify this suspicion.

Interesting. All Mtronics or just a few models?

More jam can be added. As I do more of the same model I find a little more here and there. I'd be happy to rework it if needed.

MM, do you recall how this one was ported. Mild, medium or aggressive?

I usually start conservatively until I'm sure that the saw behaves as well as a stock saw after the mods. If it's one of the first few, I likely didn't start with a lot of added compression. @Woodpecker has one that I just repaired, and did a few more tweaks to while it was apart. He could tell you more about how his saw runs, as it has a lot of fuel thru it.
