As @RI Chevy noted, load those note updates on every new startup of the app, it is not from the internet.

I tried the 026 ipl and it seemed to work fine.

As far i im aware ive uploaded everything onto the harddrive. it asked which option I wanted and I clicked to upload all of it. i might try to reinstall it and see what happens. thank you for all your help gents.

yea ive been able too but it takes ages, the programme can crash, and if it does it says there's a problem with adobe, the gives me another window message from adobe asking if I want to open, save or cancel, if I click open it does eventually load up. just seems like I've got a bug in the system or something.

it takes around 10 to 15 minutes to find, lose, the re find the pdf, then ask I I want to open it. is this how the programme normally operates?

Update or delete and re-install Acrobat and see if that helps. Sounds like your computer could use some system maintenance.

Accessing and opening files should be quite efficient with even an older computer with limited resources -- unless there was a surprise payload included in the ISO.

its opening in microsoft edge rather than adobe by the looks of it. ill try a full reinstall

what does that mean? ISO?

The disk image you downloaded is referred to as an ISO (optical) image.

You can right click on MediaCAT and tell it to open with Adobe Acrobat instead of Edge.

When I ran the installation it automatically installed Acrobat Reader, I was wondering why at the time.
I am running Windows 10 with latest updates.

The way I see it mediaCAT is made to utilize Acrobat Reader to display IPL's.
Uninstall mediaCAT, then reinstall allowing Acrobat Reader to install.
