I purchased two Maxflow filters from HL Supply a few months ago. It is time to start cutting wood since it is getting cooler. I can't quite figure them out. I think I have it right on the 461, but the 661 filter only had one plate.
The 461 had two plates, one fit the cage and one was a little smaller and looked like the one in the directions that you used as a back plate. It also came with the large rain cover.
The 661 filter had the cage, one plate that fit it, and the big cover. Can you use them without the cover like the 461? Is this kit missing something?
I may try to get pics later if you all are as confused as I am.

The kit for the 661 isn't designed to be run without the cover.
That's what I was beginning to think. They could use a little better directions in the package. I looked at a dozen pictures and videos trying to figure everything out for the 461. Then I opened the 661 to oil it and get it ready and I was thinking something was missing.

I thought the same when I bought mine, but it's all there. I called the guy at equitee about it, he said they weren't goin to make anything for the 661 to run without a cover. If u wanted to run it open though, u could always cut out a back plate from a factory cover.

I was lucky enough to be able to help with the R&D of the MaxFlow for the 661.

The MaxFlow cover helps keep that filter cleaner. I’ve gone 20-30 tanks between cleanings on average.

Too me, 20-30 tanks between cleaning a filter is like 10X the use before cleaning I'd get in our conditions.....pretty amazing. Even if I got 5-10 tanks before a clean that would be a huge improvement over the HD-2 filters. Seems Maxflow is money well spent.

I've got tons of old backing plates from 440, 460, and 660 kits if you want a couple. When I was running my forestry crew, at one point I had 24 saws all running Max Flows.
I would be interested in a couple of the backer plates if you have any left. The ones with the larger hole to fit the Stihl twisty nut. Let me know. TY

I installed the filter on a TM 064 and wanted to use it next weekend. how much richer did you set the carburetor? 1/16 turn?

I adjust the saw by ear. I just wanted to know how strong the change is.
