It may be a regional thing or a colloquial term , but around here a "rub and a tug" would refer to a massage with a "happy ending" . Where as a "hug and a tug" would be closer to a "date" that didn't go as planned but was better then a "yank and a crank" but not by much. Hope this clarifies things some.
