Are you headed West for a change of scenery, or East because its close? You are welcome to stop in for a visit if you pass through our neck of the woods.

My mom lives on the Carolina coast. I'll be visiting her.

Randy is a very generous guy, but I don't think the details on this saw are going public.

You might be surprised Mike. I'm chatting with Brad Snelling about it right now. I'm not good at keeping this stuff to myself. I want to see us all build great saws.

I sorta wanna see how the thinking in this thread goes before I let the cat out of the bag......

So........does anyone wanna talk about why this machine is so..........different?

I'd like to hear what the guys that have built 661s think, and where they are with the saws they are building.
I'm game. And will share everything I've tried. Not saying it's right just saying I tried it. Lol. Here's the vid of me battling it out.

I think on these my first saw I started by cutting .040 from the base and buy the time I was done I had taken .070 from the base. I started my build all on 100 degree exhausts and played with the trans and intake timing the most. From what I've seen pulling 36" bars and 80-81 intake seems to be the strongest. Now on the trans they end up huge. Lol. But some combination of 18-22 seems to be where my strongest saw seemed to be at. I've played around 122 all the way down to 118. I have one of these on my bench now. So I'm very interested and can Try almost anything we need to. Except change the comp. I've already cut the base and squish. Lol. I was headed for 100/118-120/80 but let's see where this thread takes us.

On the 2 saws in that vid the only complaint I had was the mtronic. If you were trying to run a 28" bar, 7-rim with a stock full chiesel chain they were just for stroking all the time. Simple fix we put 8 rims on them. Lol. But the saws needed a good load not to four stroke.

I wish I could share, but I don't port saws. I have someone else do them, and he didn't tell me any numbers.....other than he did it for a bigger bar than a 20" that I had on it when I gave it to him. It rips with a 28" though. Maybe I'll get some vid this weekend. Have some hackberry I want to get cut up and on the trailer and home.

I need to go back to work.
Me too !!

How does the 661 run with 180ish psi comp ?
Incredible

I've done two, and second one with a higher exhaust was definately stronger with a shorter bar. I trimmed both pistons, and just cleaned up the squish, then cut the base to give me my exhaust number. Both intakes got epoxied to 79-80
First video is original cylinder with mtronics and 180 psi, second video is second cylinder without mtronics And 210 psi

All running 7 tooth 404 RS untouched from Julian
