The MTronic system limits the RPMs of a saw by retarding timing at a certain RPM, so I don't think there is a need for the coil itself to be limited.

yep... well timing gets changed quite often.

and this stuff isn't new. it's all right here in the 441 tech manual from 2010. :)

That specifically says "by monitoring engine temperature and speed", so at a minimum, there must be a temp sensor built in there.

It is also specific that it just remembers the most recent settings, so I was wrong on that one.

and hence better fuel economy as fuel is used only for the burn and not the pushing, only fresh air is.
Has anyone ever tested this theory? I've seen it mentioned a lot, but never seen it tested. You're pulling the same air and fuel through the carb. You're just distributing it differently in the engine.

And with fuel. Yes, they are rev limited. You can clearly hear it in the video of your saw at WOT.

Mike is a temp sensor the only way to know engine temp?

the set fuel values for each model saw/coil... (sorry don't have 241 #s)

there is a good difference between fuel value of 261 and 661. So I don't think it's a viable option. We just put it on to see if it would even start. It did not.

"too low" = when the coil is considered bad and replaced

I believe air temp is the quest there.

There is no temp sensors on these saws at all Ken. But they still monitor it
We will see.... Once I get access to the CPU / ECU area of this coil, who knows what I will find.
I also have a Carb to go with this and will be looking into the Connectors that are on it for this coil...
hmmmmm......
