Looks great Scott, that is a strong little Tiger!
The MTronic system limits the RPMs of a saw by retarding timing at a certain RPM, so I don't think there is a need for the coil itself to be limited.
Has anyone ever tested this theory? I've seen it mentioned a lot, but never seen it tested. You're pulling the same air and fuel through the carb. You're just distributing it differently in the engine.and hence better fuel economy as fuel is used only for the burn and not the pushing, only fresh air is.
And with fuel. Yes, they are rev limited. You can clearly hear it in the video of your saw at WOT.The MTronic system limits the RPMs of a saw by retarding timing at a certain RPM, so I don't think there is a need for the coil itself to be limited.
It's all over my head, only thing I understood was the video.Lots of good info in this thread guys.
Thanks for that. A lot of is over my head, but I think in the end we can all learn more from these discussions.
That specifically says "by monitoring engine temperature and speed", so at a minimum, there must be a temp sensor built in there.
It is also specific that it just remembers the most recent settings, so I was wrong on that one.

I was taking about the 261.
462 needs to addedthe set fuel values for each model saw/coil... (sorry don't have 241 #s)
there is a good difference between fuel value of 261 and 661. So I don't think it's a viable option. We just put it on to see if it would even start. It did not.
"too low" = when the coil is considered bad and replaced

I believe air temp is the quest there.Mike is a temp sensor the only way to know engine temp?

LOL!!! Just like technologies I have not had my hands on yet... Besides, if I can pull this off, it will be one of my contributions to these great people... And that includes You!!!Dude's some sort of a mad scientist.
Nah...I'm just a jaggoff that stands behind a parts counter all day.contributions to these great people... And that includes You!!!
We will see.... Once I get access to the CPU / ECU area of this coil, who knows what I will find. There is no temp sensors on these saws at all Ken. But they still monitor it
