So I had recently purchased a barely used Mantis tiller. After a quick carb swap and fuel line kit, I noticed that the throttle was not returning to it's closed position properly. After some quick investigation, I had found that the torsion spring in the throttle trigger was broken (apparently a common issue). These springs seem to be a cheap carbon steel that becomes as brittle as blown glass. I search to and searched and to know about this. Spring is unavailable and unattainable. Also discovering numerous posts on others having the same issue and others have the same outcome of not being able to find the proper spring. What I did to solve this was buy the $5 spring kit from Harbor freight and just figure out what would be the best to use as the return spring for the trigger. Attached are the pictures and what I believe is the best solution to this issue and it was nothing but a five-cent spring, a quick notch in the plastic and some hot glue. I cut the notch installed the spring and put a dab of hot glue to retain it and then I put a ball of hot glue on the opposite side of each half of the handle where the spring would sit to help prevent it from possibly rolling out upon compression (which it won't but it couldn't hurt). That's it. Any questions, ask away. Hope it helps someone else from being forced to but an $80 assembly.

Excellent repair tip, and you can all but be 100% guaranteed that it will last as long as the tiller itself.
