The slot in the 144 shaft needs to be lengthened to use the 87 butterfly.
thanks, but 120 shafts is perfect match?
They look at least big enough for 87 butterfly :)

How much more perf did you gain out of the hda199 compared to the hda87?

I posted a video of that saw. It was sorta overshadowed by the 6100 though.....and didn't get much attention.

Given that:

HDA-120: 15mm venturi = 176 square mm of surface area
HDA-87: 16.67mm venturi = 218 square mm of surface area

218 / 176 = 1.2386

Meaning the venturi of the HDA-87 has a 23.86% larger opening than the HDA-120... but not necessarily 23.86% more volume or 23.86% more h.p. or ft. lbs. of torque... does it?

Is there any difference between hda87 and hda199

The 87 is just getting harder to find. If you can swap the shafts into a 191 or a 199, at least there's a fairly simple way get a bigger carb on the 262.
So I have 2 hda 87 carbs 1 in use 1 with a project... And 199 carbs well you know I can find them .. so should I change my hda 87 on my 262 ? Or just leave it since it's the same ...
Also thanks for the fast response...

You are good with the 87 Chris. Just leave it. The 199 is for those of us that cannot find an 87.

@XP_Slinger have you seen this?

So, being that there were several Walbros used on 357/359, is there any discernable difference? The 359 I had used an HDA175 if memory serves. There were a couple others like the 198 and maybe a few more. I have seen it said that some did not have accelerator pumps. Is there any particular carb model number that was used on the 357/9 that doesn't work or convert as well?

I ask because this may be good info for those of us who may start looking for carbs to upgrade our 262s with.

our 262s with.
I purchased a nib walbro 191 for 43.95 cents shipped! Switched 144 shafts and installed 191 butterflies and set screws 1.5 out cranked and it idled and accelerated perfect! Low jet backed down to 1.25 turns' high was fine and it was running 13200 rpm's . Killed it and 1 pull idled for 8 to 10 minutes flawlessly.
