What size you wear Micheal? I've got some Viking black tusks I'd like to sell. Only wore them a couple times. Don't like the weight. They're full on safety boots, not just steel toes.

Hey Ryan

I mostly wear Keen boots in a size 13

I have their steel toe boots back home and they are insulated and stuff that I certainly don't need here

Now I need new boots...

Don’t think those rubber toe caps would slow down a toy saw

Get real. Steel toe is your number 1 safety gear imo. Eyes second and ears third. Sadly chaps come in fourth and I don't and have never owned them. Wore a pair once.
My boots have been hit several times in the toes and the front sole from wood shifting on a pile and stuffing the logs onto my feet with the saw. Touched a toe tip once noodling a stump still in the ground. Another time my saw kicked back up and ran over the boot....just a nick...got lucky there!

Note to self...never plunge cut stumps with my feet in line with the bar. Turn the bar top away from your feet.

No, not going to work

That rubber bottom would fill up with sweat like a bathtub here in Hawaii

Thanks though

View attachment 222277 I just got a really good deal on Husqvarna technical chaps on eBay

I wear Labonville wraps back in Alaska and I really like the way these Hooski chaps fit

They hug my legs much better without binding or feeling restrictive
I second the recommendation for the hisky technical chaps, they were about 80 bucks on amazon when i got mine

I'm looking at the forester full wrap version as well as the husky ones. Forrester's are around 50-60 bucks

I love the sawing motion.

Verstuurd vanaf mijn SM-G955F met Tapatalk

Absolutely

apparently the secret is to get the dullest chain you can find and then push the saw back and forth while going rrrrrr rrrrrr rrrrrr as loud as you can

the second banana kicking at the stump while you saw is essential as well

at first I was freaking until I realized the only way anyone could get hurt with that saw was to pick it up and brain someone with it

my previous set were forester and they lasted for one thrown chain before they opened up and spilled the stringy stuff, they definitely protected me from a spinning chain of doom but then they were done for, the Husky chaps have taken multiple blows from chains without tearing at all and ever endured a little burning from a muffler without serious damage, any chaps are better than nothing but the Husky chaps are miles tougher than the Forester chaps
Dave

they are currently 87.78 on amazon and a bit less for other sizes

Thanks for the information bud, that's pretty much the consensus of the research I've been doing last couple of days ,guess I'll just wait and buy the husky ones when money gets right.

I been stupidly lucky.
If a group rate came along I'd be in.
My Pap took a hit. Had to take the bull head home for supper and get cleaned up before he'd go to hospital.
He was a little cranky for awhile after.

I have tried several brands and models.

I bought a pair of Labonville wrap chaps, because lots of guys on A.S. raved about them. I really liked the materials and construction, but they just did not fit me right, and left parts of my legs exposed.

I have a pair of the 'old' Husqvarna wrap chaps, with a coarse, Cordura exterior, that cover well, but hang up on stuff.

The STIHL Promark wrap chaps fit me well and are comfortable to wear. As @David Young notes, the STIHL chaps are the only ones I know of that are machine washable and dryable: hand washing gets old fast.

If you have the opportunity to try them on, like in a store, I highly recommend it. Or order from a place you can return.

Other thing is weight: thicker and wrap styles protect more, but they are heavy and hotter to wear. But if you are more likely to wear thinner, apron style chaps, they could be more 'protective ' just because you wear them.

I bought Labonville and like them. I believe they were the only brand with the length I needed. Uncomfortable? Just another layer to work with. In my years I have worn hard hats, cut gloves, goggles, full face shield, hearing protection, rain suits, steel toe boots and steel toe rubber boots. PPE is definitely not designed for comfort. But, I still have all my parts after retiring.
