As the subject states I'm trying to strengthen my skills and get a bit more under my belt. I am pretty cautious when it comes to doing stuff that'll get me killed or put me off work for more than a day. We have all seen the old timey videos of the guys humping up a stick with spikes and a rope but I'd prefer to at least get started with some sort of fall protection. That being said does anyone have a good source for material reading wise? Videos can only go so far and most of these guys have their heads so far up a tree crotch you can only see spikes...

Treestuff may have some literature, as well.

Climbing arborist on Vimeo helped me out a ton when I was just getting started.

Have you googled climbing schools? I found one in my area that does weekend classes. But its climbing only no cutting. But hey its a start.

Not really. There's a community college nearby with a arborist course but its pretty much "this is a tree, this is what kind of tree it is thank you for 3500$" unfortunately

Lame. I'll have to find the link to it again but this school was like trying to relive some childhood stuff but safely.

The fact that they have a disclaimer saying not to wear a skirt makes me think this is a pretty engineered operation like a zip line or something
