I remember a good few years ago when Baileys had the WoodsmanPro rebranded Cannon bars. Well I know for sure they had double ended milling bars in 050 in 42" & 50". I wish I snagged one in 063, they were like $200 for a 50" DE milling bar....Cannon quality to boot.

granted its not really stock but my 650/660 pulls & oils a 42" very well, I have HO oiler parts in the pump.

it's an oregon bar .063 3/8" running a skiptooth.

I have a 50" GB .404 for my 880, been busy with work & I haven't had time to cut any wood or run saws lately.

We must be close. I get monsters like that all too often. :headbang: Last one was 5 cords split and stacked.

I'm from Gettysburg, but this was just inside Baltimore County, MD

It makes me feel bad cutting up such a nice mill log into firewood, but it makes such good easy splitting firewood too.

this would've made a nice mill log, except for about 9ft up from the stump, it was all rotten.

My logging buddy Wayne took this oak down in 2014.

They borrowed my saw as I had the Stihl ES light 28 inch bar at the time when the 28 lightweight was coming out. The biggest bar they had at the time was 24.

I was the first to purchase the 28 ES light from the local Stihl dealer back in 2014.

Now my buddies all have Stihl 28 ES light.

In 2015, I bought my first Stihl 36 inch bar. I love this bar as it cuts nice and straight.

Been slicing this honey locust up the last two days. The base has some rot, so I’ll be bucking 21” cuts till it’s gone, then they are going to try and find a saw + mill big enough to slab it. 46” base, 68” at crotch about 14’ up.

Nice set up and good looking straight cuts.

it blew over during a real bad storm, cut it up back in July, took 2 full days. my buddy worked on the top & ran the chipper while I diced it up, of course it was 100° out that weekend.

That was a bad storm. I’m in Baltimore county and was without power for five days. It was prime time for sawing, of course I was out of the game due to shoulder issues. I missed the op for a lot of firewood.

Bars over 36” it is most common to get.063, allows more oil and a bigger drive link. I have a .o50 36” Stihl light bar, it works fine. I have plenty of bigger saws so use them on anything over 36”. Plus my 660 seems to barely oil a 36”bar, a 42” will be pushing it, I have seen a tree monkey 066 run a long bar 50”+ but I don’t know well it oiled it. Poor oil flow will reduce chain life and stretch a lot
Gotta swap the oilers out on the stihls. To the rescue model oiler. I did on my work 461. World of difference.

IMO anything long bar wise Cannon is the way to go the very best, worth the expense. Bar wise all around actually. I have run them all, and especially in the 42inch and up Cannon is a very noticeable difference. Over 42 it's not even comparable and other brands are so flimsy. .50 gauge to me is obsolete, they just throw more chains, wad up burr up more. And in commercial applications don't hold up. I wish the industry would just standardize and make 1. .404 in .50 gauge to me would be a disaster it would not hold up in demanding situations. .404 .063 gauge is the most durable chain I have ever run. At home here in my tree work I run full skip, .063 3/8 it does very well. My 500i came with a Stihl light bar which I love the Stihl lightweight bars, but it's. 050 and lacking funds figured I'd run it. I throw chains constantly and it just won't cut like the .063 as fat as undercutting, almost every time, chain throws. If it works for ya cool the .050, but it's not the best in professional applications. And my county work saw has .063 .404 and that chain out works em all.
