I recently had my husqavarna chainsaws stolen and being that is how I'm currently making my living through the winters. Im kinda screwed. So I'm trying to fix a few saws that have been sitting and needed parts. but with no money to spare on parts im using old parts. Have a 346xp i can't seem to get to fire. It's been cleaned thoroughly new fuel filter and line. Has spark. Air. And compression. Carb is tuned. Been at it again for a few days and nothin. i feel kinda screwed.

That really sucks man I hate to hear this. Is the exhaust plugged up? If not I would lean towards coil maybe timing is off somehow.

I am having same problem with a 395, check for sheared flywheel key, air gap, vacuum tested case, tried several plugs. Does it have an auto compression release? Removed ground wire to coil? Tried a different coil? Etc.

What part saws do you have?
I have old parts and cheap Chinese parts from 450 rancher and 455. Old parts from 346xp. I started piecing back together the 455 rancher and can't seem to get it to fire Eather. Now I'm not too sure but i know the spark plugs i have aren't what is recommended. They fit. How important is it? I feel if it sparks it should work right?

Also i have not tried taking the carb apart and cleaning that thoroughly on Eather. Also on the 346 when i try starting it at times it pops and shoots spark out of the muffler.. does that mean it's flooded? Carb is clogged?

You could try a little starting fluid. They "flood" easily on starting fluid, so don't go spraying more if it doesn't fire in only 2-3 pulls, it could take more pulls. Starting fluid can get the engine fired up just long enough if sprayed on the air filter for you to determine if the carb is letting enough fuel through, or if there's something else wrong.

I would see if they will run a second off of a prime and if they do then then you know to clean and rebuild the carburetors. May get away with just cleaning them but probably diaphragms are bad from sitting.

Thieves are scum of the earth. And with the law around here there’s no reason for them to stop. No consequences for their actions.

Sorry to hear about your loss, that stinks! I've got a Makita EA4300 I can ship you, but it needs some work, cylinder cleaned and rings. I have the rings but not the time so let me know.

How about the intake? That plastic clamp is notorious for coming loose.

Sorry about your hard times.

Back fire could be flooding or incorrect ignition timing but you should start at the beginning. Pull muffler, check piston for scoring. If it looks good, block the muffler and intake and do a pressure test.

If the saw will not even pop, kill switch, spark, coil/timing, or fuel delivery are where to look. Is the plug wet when you pull it? Does it look wet inside the muffler? If so you have enough or too much fuel. If the plug and muffler are dry, try a dribble of fuel mix down the carb (not much) and then give it a few pulls. If it fires, check your fuel line, carb diaphragms and pulse line. If those all look good , your probably dealing with an air leak.

346 is a valuable saw. If you can’t figure it out you can probably find someone who will trade you for a running saw of lesser value.

Worst case, pawn the TV and go buy an Echo 590.
