The Courage twins are good engines. The singles are junk. Briggs can be hit or miss but we have blown up a bunch of Briggs twins. The Courage twin for that price is an awesome deal.

So you would put these on a commercially used machine and expect it to hold up?

On a commercially used machine no. But on a commercial machine use by a homeowner yes. You stated this was for your personal use and not commercial.

Just curious. It won't work anyway... Every affordable twin engine seems to be too wide to fit. Will a single cylinder engine have any issues in this application?

Ok so I decided to do a rebuild. Used crank and camshaft of the bay and gaskets and stuff came to $225. If it lasts a couple years I'll be happy!

I got I bolted up before hay yesterday but haven't oiled and fueled it yet... Maybe tonight.

What grade oil you planning on using ? I'd use Rotella T5 or T6 in it 15W40 or 5W40 for the long haul but a thinner oil like 5W30 might be better for break in .

I didn't put new rings in. I kept it minimal considering the fact it doesn't have bearings for the crank or cam. If I get a year or two I'll be happy. I've got $200 plus my time into it.
And it ran good on 1-1/2 cylinders so it should be better now.

Amsoil 10W30 is great , I run Amsoil in my car , Sportster and OP equipment .
Try it and see how it works but I find a 40 weight in air cooled lawn tractors works better because they run pretty hot .
Aside from Amsoil I do thing the Rotella T5 or T6 great oil .

Aaaand........I wouldn't waste the bottle of Amsoil for break in oil , just use some cheap Dino oil for the first run-in period .
But I guess it's too late for that....LOL .

That makes sense to use 40 weight for air cooled. Didn't really think about it. When I change it I'll get 10/40. Yup too late. Hopefully that coil will be here before the end of the week...
