yes. i personally use permatex anaerobic gasket maker. there are several others out there but honestly ive only ever used the permatex.

I have used Permatex Motoseal. Let it cure and it makes removing cylinder a little harder.

I've used that and hylomar blue.

Does that have a long shelf life after opening or does it harden in the tube after a while?

i tried Loctite 518 didn't liked. Dirko Ht is ok , got order for

Hylomar M, hope to get delivered this coming week.​

I got about 2-years before I finally had to get a new tube

I’ve used about 6 tubes of motoseal. Never gets hard in the tube

Make sure the squish does not get too tight.

I have used 518, Motoseal and Dirko. I will never use 518 again and will stick with the other 2. Kevin used 6 tubes of Motoseal so that would be reason enough for me to choose that one.

I use 1184 all the time. I’ve had a few saws apart where it seemed to overheat and get brittle but mostly it seals well and is easy to apply. Hylomar Blue may be my future.

I've had Hylomar Blue washout on an ill-fitting base adapter and haven't touched it since, at least for sealing bases anyways. It probably has other better suited uses than that.

I had it fail on two husky 350’s. I have never had a failure with Dirko. Never have tried motoseal or 1184.

Tried 'em all pretty much and keep going back to 1184 for bases.

Do you find Motoseal better than Dirko for lasting in the tube? My last tube of Dirko went hard, but may have been a case of not having enough chainsaws at the time.

1184 is usually at my tool-bench. It seems to work the same as Yamabond 4 or Hondabond. At least in my slightly experienced opinion.
I haven't compared it to motoseal at least not yet.
I pick up the 1184 because it is available locally, as I usually don't want to wait for a delivery.
