I know I could just Google it or do some research but I'd rather ask here and generate some discussion/conversation. When did Husqvarna buy out Jonsereds? I am not very educated on then and haven't run them hardly at all.

All I can add without googling is it was between the 910 and the 920 models.

Husqvarna did not buy out Jonsereds. They were both acquired by Electrolux along with several other brands. Electrolux bought Jonsereds in 1978. Jonsereds saws retained their own designs for several years and as they were replaced the Husqvarna and Partner influence could be seen. It wasn't until about 2000 that all the Jonsereds were Red Husqvarnas.

Very interesting, something I did not know. Thanks!

Looks right but inexperience and different part number give me pause. The price is ok but don’t need it fixed immediately so if a used one or whole saw comes up, more gooder.

As far as hand guards nd handle bars, the Jonsered saw are unique and will not cross with Husqvarna parts. Reason? Tank has different spacing for the handle bar screws on the pto side. And the top cover is different because of both the pull start and straight chain brake handle. And the chain brake handle AND little metal "lever" it attaches to are also unique to the red saws. BUT if you get desperate, the Jonsered cases/muffler thru filter holder etc. will fit with the Husqvarna tank/handles/ etc . Accept the pull start & top covers , then all the Husqvarna parts would work

@afleetcommand Thanks! How about early/late saws within the J-Red brand? My handle has one open window and when I look online, some have a bar across them. P/Ns are all over the place.

The "Original Edition" 2065/2071/2165/2171's will pretty much interchange with each other. The 2166/2172 will fit on the older saws as well, just because the 2166/2172 cylinder is a different design therefore taller than the older OE 2065/2071/2165/2171 design. But stuff like chain brake handle, handle bar, top cover etc. from the earlier saws won't fit well in the newer x-troq 2166/2172's.

i bought a full wrap husqvarna handlebar for my jonsered and was told that it would interfear with the breake handle but it fits just fine and works without any issues. i got the husky brake handle because of that info and it too quite a bit of grinding to get it to fit the jred because it wouldnt go down far enough on the brake lever for the hole to line up

New to me Jonsered 2252. Smooth operator and pretty snappy runner.

It seems like OE used and parts saws are more common and available and will fit newer parts if they come along like you said...I wonder if I shouldn't go OE for parts saw availability...
