This Forum & it’s members don’t “Owe” BBR pr the Plastic Poney anything.

And that’s exactly why I believe it would be a Positive Outcome for the whole situation.

Taking the High Road & saying look, this is what we are about & let’s move forward together.

You’ve already had a hand in getting Jessie’s saw back to Right: I also see this as an opportunity for those of us who were working when the hat was passed to have a 2nd chance to contribute back to the Forum.

BBR is (at least his YT persona) all about random acts of kindness. So I think you’re reasoning here is good.

Like him or not, he has pretty broad influence among a lot of folks who run saws.

More ideas:
1). Here’s another way to market this. He typically does an unboxing when a significant gift comes in. Include a note explaining what all was done to the saw. Mail it and ask if he will run it on his channel and then have it auctioned off at Buckinstock to support the charitable cause for which Buckinstock exists. That would add another leg of shipping but so what once we’re in this deep.

2). Skip BBR and apply the concept to another YTer. Build a saw for different saw community “influencer” (Hunicke, Human, Logger Wade, etc)....ask that they run it on their channel for a while to create some awareness, and then auction off to a charitable cause. Turner Logging doesn’t have a huge subscriber base, but they are one of my favorite channels.

Why bother with any of this? Just general good will, PR, and promotion of quality work. People are watching. Even if they aren’t commenting here or on YT.

I’m in for $20 if anything comes of this effort.

I believe Logger Wade runs Randy's saws and has mentioned him in his videos a few times.

What???????????????????

Pitfalls galore with this idea. Genks is right about feeding the guys ego. And it smacks as groveling to me.

And why do we, as a group, need to kiss his butt and set him up as some kind of grand arbiter to gain his seal of approval that we are really a bunch of decent guys? That we aren't as bad as the all the ignorant IH followers have painted us? He's already lined himself up with IH, despite some clear evidence that there is something very wrong with IH's business practices, not to mention his integrity. If ole BBR can't see this then how does building him a saw open his eyes? And why do we care what he thinks?

Little distinction here to keep in mind: We rightfully called out IH for what he did. And in doing so, it can be said that we did "attack" him. But JUST him, and only him. We were then in turn ALL attacked, en masse, by the strange bunch of groupies for which watching ole Harvey's videos is the highlight of their day. Most of them with their eyes, and minds, as closed as BBR's.

What everyone thinks, feels, says, and determines to be right or wrong about this whole matter should be based on the facts involved. An offering at the alter of one of these internet egos to gain favor demeans us. And it doesn't change the facts.

Guess I'm not too in favor of this idea, huh? LOL

Thank you my friend for reeling this in.

You are so damn right......as usual.

I'm a big believer in controlling what I can control.

Hear Hear.

OK.....I'll bite. Who is logger wade? LOL

Being a Gemini I can see both sides to this, on one hand @Mastermind has a pretty good idea, on the other @Spike60 makes a real good rebuttal.
So here's my plan B, we find a good representative of a 372OE and I will offer up my time to go through it and make it as right as rain. I do believe Randy should do the porting, so I will send him the cylinder(after cleaning it of course, so he doesn't get all icky) If someone else want's to do the muffler mod(pretty one, I can do a working one) I will send that out too. Pretty sure I can handle doing a TA. Would even ask for some help with shipping, this as much as I could offer at this point in time. I think as long as the saw doesn't need massive amounts of parts we could come in at a much more reasonable budget for such a silly venture.
Up to you monkey's, I'll be around...

I like this lower budget approach, but I got a bit lost on who it’s being sent to.

I now agree with whoever said that BBR doesn’t need anymore crap sent to him for free. That’s why I favor the.....

* Send to (_insert famous Youtuber_)
* Famous Youtuber (in advance) agrees to read description of what all QUALITY work was done and run saw for a while on his/her channel
* Famous Youtuber agrees to said auction saw (OPE choice?) for charity after some period of time.

Easy for me to commit other people to giving of their time.....just a wild idea.

[emoji4] He's a logger in Tennessee, he also has a YT channel. I remember hearing him talk about you a few times in one of his older videos.

family owned and run logging and sawmill operation in southern Indiana, i built a 395 for steve billows a employee of wade, they were on axe men last year. i was to get some exposure out of the deal on tv. didn't happen. steve did show my sticker in his youtube/facebook vids. just because someone says its going to happen doesn't mean it will, but it won't happen if you don't try.

i think we should set a poll up and vote on a few things

Ya give something to someone, it's hard to put strings attached to it. It could be suggested, but at the end of the day, it's his to do as he pleases. That and he might just want to get rid of a different saw instead... ;)

Well not that I'm in the deciding circle or anything, but I don't follow what sending something to Buckin is going to do. He knows what a real ported saw is, not IH stuff. I honestly think he's pushing IH out of the goodness of his heart, no other reason, kinda like a charity case. He feels good because he's helping IH. I'm not sure if people think sending something to Buckin is going to make him quit pushing IH saws, or if the intention is to get him to say "forum guys" aren't bad after all, or what.

Bottom line, Buckin is far too invested in IH at this point, and nothing is going to change that. How would that look it he all of a sudden, quit mentioning a guy and his saws, after he's spent a year, and countless mentions in videos, pumping him up. It would make him look like a horses ass. He isn't going to put his financial future at risk for that. He wins either way, so there's not going to be any swaying him.
