Nice job on both saws! The stock 572 was clearly under powered for the 8 pin compared to the 462; what do you think helped the 572 the most? Does it have a more restrictive muffler or something? How have both of them been treating you in the woods?

Great test log BTW, that’s some hard stuff.

Has anyone heard of the amount of overlap with concerns to the 461. I would assume they will keep making both for a while, Maybe not?

I don't think anyone knows with regards to North America. In Germany it wasn't long before the 441 and 461 disappearred from the website.

Went into my local dealer in Aus last week, there was a sign saying "MS462 Coming Soon"
Went back today, found this where the sign used to be.

I had a good look at the MS462 and the MS661 on the rack next to it, they are EXTREMELY similarly constructed. From what i could see from the outside, the MS462 is pretty much a slightly shrunken MS661.
Same shape, same style, almost identical AV setup.
Quite a bit lighter than the MS661 though. Looks like the ones in Aus are M-tronic V3.

For a price reference, the MS462 was advertised at AU$1899, the MS661 next to it was AU$2099, so exactly AU$200 between the MS642 and MS661.
Just looking on the STIHL Australia website, they have the MS462 advertised for AU$1959 (AU$60 more than in store).

EDIT: Apparently the MS462 is AU$1899 with the standard bar and AU$1959 with the ES Light bar.
