I cheated - 51 years old 6’3” 280 and I got a script for tirzepitide. I’m 240lbs about 3 months later cholesterol at 151 total and triglycerides at 50. I feel better my bones don’t ache and I don’t tire as easily.

I stopped taking it though - my wife said I was getting too skinny and just the thought of food made me nauseous. If you’re really obese it could be a lifesaver though. Even a few weeks after I don’t eat like I used to - shrunk my stomach too.

I was on Wegovy for awhile. Lower doses did absolutely nothing, higher doses made me miss work for reasons you can probably guess. I don't know if I ever will lose weight, and I'm about to decide that I don't want to spend the rest of my life worrying about it. Right now I'm just trying to be as healthy as I can be right now with the body I've got. If that means being in better health but still fat then so be it.

I am making slow but measurable progress. I can now push mow the back yard without stopping to rest. And, my food choices are a little better than they used to be. It ain't much but I'll take it!

I don't consider it cheating, you were able to use a tool to help you change some ways. I am glad to hear that it isn't something you have to take for the rest of your life. I know I sit too much, need to get up and get moving more often!

I had side effects initially. I’d eat and immediately after I was on the toilet spraying like a fire hose. We don’t run at work unless there’s an emergency so it was tough walking fast to the restroom.

I stopped taking it for a week for a family vacation - I wanted to enjoy myself - when I started taking it again when I got back I didn’t have the same issue.

That is great to hear! It sounds like you've got a handle on what works for you. Being able to "do stuff" is a better metric of overall health than anything.

I used to be deeply involved in the online fitness community. It's interesting how many exercises mimic real work. Google "farmer's walks." There's at least one company that sells a "wheelbarrow" designed to be loaded with weight plates!

Personally, I've got a wheelbarrow and a bunch of (sometimes literal) crap that has to be moved, so that's a win!

Just a quick update. Kathy and I are still both taking zepbound. I'm down 68#and she is down 47# as of today. We went on a challenging foe us hike at a local state park Monday and she did a phenomenal job. Can't say enough how proud I am of both of us for making major improvements in the health and fitness area.20250526_133321.jpg20250526_135846.jpg

I just push mowed the back yard in one go without taking any breaks and feel fine. When I first started mowing it this year I had to always take 2 or 3 breaks before I got it done. I also push mow the really hilly part of the front yard, I leave the flat part for dad to mow with his riding mower because he enjoys doing it.
