We’ve got about 8–10 more days of tomato growing weather. I butched everything yesterday so the plants would focus on ripening instead of producing more

Many old Timers would sovel loosen the root ball then pull the whole plant roots, leaves, Maters and hang 'em upside down in the basement or cellar and the maters would continue to ripen.. Always wondered if a shed would work for a short while,maybe prolong them some after a freeze outside. We always picked the green ones and made relishes with the bell peppers, green maters and onions sometimes cucumbers.

How do you use them?

Raw boss. Handfuls.

Back when I was helping with salve stuff.. Used to find a few things hung like that, mostly in the eastern side of a barn.
Morning sun and warmth I'm guessing.
Lot of pepper plants mostly. Which i love more than tomatoes. Mom is probably turning over in her grave at that sentiment!
Seemed like they always kinda rough or mildewy looking by the time we were on site though.
