Many adult beverages have been consumed around many campfires and wood stoves, trying to determine the answer.
For each of us it's different but for all of us, a daunting question. Hopefully, one we'll never need to answer in earnest.

From a purely practical standpoint....

Top-Ruger single six convertible in .22lr & .22M. Because you need a .22 handgun and the extra cylinder in .22M gives it the edge.

Middle- Ruger 1911 in 10mm. Marginally concealable, and enough horsepower for duties other than personal protection.

Bottom-Ruger SRH Toklat in .454 Casull. Because it will kill pretty much anything on the planet, while still having the ability to shoot lighter loads in 45 Colt.

None of the guns qualify as a favorite, although the 1911 is close, but collectively, they provide the capability to handle most anything I would use a handgun for.

1-3 right here.

If I was only able to own 1 handgun, this would be it. I hate to guess how many 10's of thousands of rounds it has through it. This is on its 2nd refinish and is due for its 3rd Cerakote job.

Just because this is Phukin Merica!

This is my choice #2. This used to be my EDC, I just no longer carry it after I got started on the G23.

Because I had to choose 3, I'll throw this one in the ring. The only reason is because its small.

I rarely carry this gun. I am flat out not comfortable with it, I have not trained as hard as I would like. My goal this year is to train harder on this weapon because there are times where having a smaller framed weapon would be really nice.

Got a mo 20 and 29 saving for coonan thinking of trading my 357 nickle smith with bone handles on large frame toward a 41 allways wanted a 41 mag. I think its better ballistics then 44 mag. And a double big hell yeah. I love them coonans. Thats just sexy right there

No worries.
Those old Dan Wessons are fine handguns.

I have never had the "revolver bug"

I have also only shot one revolver in my life, and it was a Dan Wesson 357. The guy needed money and wanted to sell it, he said he'd take $100 for this particular gun, I offered him $50 and he reluctantly said he'd do it.

After further talking with the guy I discovered that he was not allowed to own hand guns and that this particular gun was given to him for collateral for something and he was not willing to do any of the "paperwork" involved with the transfer.

I still regret not buying it and sticking it in my safe, but I went along with my gut instinct and told him that I would pass on the deal.

My list would be similar to the Ginis [emoji38]
G 19 cause every gangster has a 9 and ammo would be readily available from their dead carcasses.
A good quality 1911 cause there just f..king bad ass...
Springfield xds .45 for my small CC piece. Did I say i like .45s.

Only three ? Come on now Carl [emoji28]

Good choices besides the Springfield

Springfield should have stuck with 1911. I have great hatred for their polymer guns:( I have tried to like them and have a fair amount of trigger time on them, but they are a platform that I just can't get the feel for.

I'd have to say out of what I own it would be..

Glock 20 10mm with Streamlight TLR1

Older Remington 870 wingmaster with ext. Mag tube and a fairly short barrel.

Ruger 10/22

I own a few 1911's in .45 but feel the Glock covers more bases:)

I really like my Glock 17 also!

It takes awhile to get the trigger fingerd out. It was much better before I sent it in for the recall.

I have a neighbor with a full size XD in 9mm. The trigger is good but the reset is superb. Far superior to any of my Glocks.

Didn't see the handgun only part :)

Drop the 10/22 and add the Glock 17!

Is rather not loose the shotgun but in it's place we'll go with my trusty Springfield Loaded model 1911 in .45. It's been through hell and back!!

You were awefully close... I went with the 22 mag single 9 and 45-70 Magnum Research

As for the third I'd probly get a long range single shot with a decent bipod and scope
