Ida submerged log splitter fixing

I drained the half water half oil mix out of the crankcase.
I drained the gas from the tank, hose and entirely cleared the carb bowl.
With a shot of starter fluid in the carb, the 8hp Briggs tinecutter engine kicked.
What choke run settings will get me going again?
Might I need a new plug now?
This one's not locked up and I put new oil in!

Run it for a few minutes and replace the oil again. Choke as much as needed to get started, open as it warms.
