The crank and cases of 1122 series have changed a lot over their run. Dave has a good thread here or on AS explaining details, but the short of it is:
064- entirely different oiler system so cases are different from 066
066- m6 cylinder mount holes... right?
Crankshaft- early 066 and 064 are different from later 660 style. Some differences within runs, too.
Later 066/660- flywheel side seal area different from early 066/064

Oh and that's a really nice looking saw there @MG porting I'd like to own one myself. The new rear handle that you put on it, is that OEM or aftermarket?
It's a new oem but they made some changes to it so I'm guessing its for a newer flat top 064 or flat top 066.

Yep. The later metal-flywheel 066 crank was upgraded from 12 rollers in the big end bearing to 13. The 064 case has always been its own animal.

It was still made in some countries up until a few years ago as the MS-640 with a few minor improvements but essentially the same saw.

It's hard to beat the 064 - they're a simple, tough machine with a good power-to-weight ratio.

I was disappointed to learn the oilers do not interchange :(. Was hoping to bolt on the 660 HO oiler for a easy upgrade. However mine seems to do adequate oiling a 28 even with a 8 pin.

Agreed I've always liked how much lighter they were over the ms660 but at the same time how much power they had over the ms460 there all around my favorite because of of that.

I rebuilt a mate's 064 with the Cross 92cc jug. Primarily because it had a de-comp hole built into the jug (he's 70 and wanted it). I had to tune the de-comp (BIG friggin' holes on a de-comp with no 'ridge' to slow it down in order to vent the cylinder).

He loves it. It was the first time since he's owned it that he could start it without going through a pain in the azz 'starting drill'. He just pulls and goes.

Rather absurd that he uses 92cc of muscle to cut a bit of firewood, but hey, it's his saw.

I'm guilty of that to but the fire wood here can very in size but they are getting smaller.

I cut 80 to 85% of my firewood with my 026, 18" bar.
BUT there are still some big trees that require a lot of work to cut up that none wants.
Seems like most people want the smaller, easier to cut branches and leave the large trunks.

That's been my experience. It's not cutting the rounds that wears me out, it's wrestling with 6" thick 40" rounds of Ozzie hardwood that drains me. Then cut them into 6 pieces and load them - I'm flogged when I finish...
