so there is a different one for the grey tops im only work on a few of the grey tops maybe 10

....

Another note on the topic of the 61 - the changes usually associated with the "orange top" (vs the "gray top") didn't all happen at exactly the same time as the color of the cover changed - if you want to find out more about it, start with comparing the different IPLs....

I have learned more about when different changes happened lately. It now looks like most changes associated with "late production" saws happened around 1991 week 7 (new case, new top cover, one piece ignition, larger carb (HS-254), new muffler, and more) - but the new top cover still was gray, so there are at least two different gray top covers out there (spike60 told us this in a thread).
The orange top cover was first shown in the 1993-09 IPL, more than two years later.

backhoelover, I've been trying to download your file for the 445 husky, but haven't been able to do so. I'm wondering if you could email it to me at rcroberts22@gmail.com.
If you can, thanks in advance. If you can't, thanks anyway.

Updates on the 560xp and 562xp IPLs, note that the new IPLs have included the corresponding service bulletins for a while now.

The e model has a tool-less chain adjustment for a $10 price increase.

Anyone with some sense will of course want to avoid any e model, as the tool-less chain adjuster just is annoying, not an asset. It just is a feature that they "had to" introduce on "homeowner" saws in the 2000s, because Stihl did so - and clueless "consumer chainsaw testers" thought it was a good idea (it certainly isn't, they aren't accurate enough even when new, and they become even more inaccurate with wear).

The few times I checked, basically the same happened to the 555 as to the 560/652 - so I assume that the 555 has gone trough most of the same revisions as the 560/562. Some times the involved part numbers will be different of course.
