Just now noticed, in the very start of the vid showing the mystery High Top 5xx saw, it's being held at a perfect angle that makes it so you can't pause and zoom in on the decal on the starter. Intentional??? View attachment 69657
Id be real surprised if there were any decals or identifying marks on that thing at all.

The one I saw a few years back that was sent to a certain builder/logger, turned builder/dealer for field trials.... had no identifying decals on it.

It looks like a 562 with higher filter cover to me

As much as I want that to be a 572 or 590, It looks like a 562 beside a 550 to me. Still has a primer bulb on it. That would surely be an oddity for a bigger saw...

A primer bulb seems to be standard equipment for AutoTune. There's one on every model so far.

576 doesn't have them
My bad...

Different generation of AutoTune, the 576 cannot even be plugged into.
What he said!

It's hard to tell for sure but the saw above seems too big for a 562... definitely looks like a "high top" cover to me. Of course, that may be wishful thinking on my part.

I love all this hype as we dream & anticipate about the new saw of all saws. Like before the release of the 661 Stihl. Many have theories of its awesomeness, beauty and specifications that have never been seen before in the world of saws. Its this dream we hang onto and hold dear. Its the unknown awesomeness we guess to measure. Sadly one day this all ends, the saw of saws is realised, Redbull buys two of them for testing, other owners pony up to join the new awesome saw club too. The wise old Sawyer knows not to gamble his hard earned on a first production run saw, his 066 has not missed a beat in 3 decades....he sits tight till the dust settles. A new saw club member hollows 'my new saw is broke'd & no one knows what to do, its been at my dealer 3 weeks & he ain't got no clue. Problems are discovered, solutions are few...this new generation autotune is plenty enough to make one spew! They hit the trading post thick & fast, folks realise this new autotune ain't gonna last. Cheap they sell, monies are needed back, ol 390's show up priced like crack. The wise old man never sold his old 390, it still sits on the top of his worksaw rack.

Very nice poem/post CR888:campeon:
Actually I loved my early 1986 first production run Stihl 064AV. Lighter then a MS460 and I still got it today with a 084 carb on it.

Has anyone heard from Niko SawTroll lately?
Haven't seen him on any of the forums for quite a while. Getting worried about him.

Thanks Simon, good to hear. He's probably out doors getting lots done after spending that long midnight sun winter.

I sent him a PM a few days ago and still heard nothing from him.

I am far from a good poet clearly... I would love to buy the new 5 series whether its 70-90cc's. I have a 2012 555 & 2013 550xp that have performed perfectly every time I've ran them. IMO the 5 series of saws are the most advanced saws on the market. A lot of new firsts in design besides the AT system when they came out. Hopefully the new saw is every bit as good and better.

I've run a 550 at work and a 562 owned by a friend and they are impressive units, no taking that away from them. It's just that what I already have are still more than adequate to do what I need to do. Or another way to put it, they are not more gooder enough than my NE346 and 357 to replace them just yet. ;)
